The release of Zuckerberg’s Threads has sent shockwaves through the tech industry, captivating millions of users within an astonishingly short span of time.
In a remarkable feat, Threads amassed an incredible 10 Million users in just 7 hours after its launch, propelling it to the forefront of the social media landscape. So what really is Threads?
Essentially, the app is an extension to Instagram that redefines the landscape of social interactions by shifting the focus from content consumption to meaningful conversations, both private and public. Seamlessly integrated with Instagram, Threads allows users to effortlessly connect their existing network of followers, instantly tapping into an engaged community of like minded individuals. Even Apple recognises the app’s prowess, describing it as a place “where communities come together to discuss everything — from the topics you care about today to what’ll be trending tomorrow.”
Interesting… sounds just like the already established giant in the social media realm….
There’s no doubt that this new app poses a real threat to Elon Musk’s Twitter, amplifying the ongoing, well-documented animosity between Musk and Zuckerberg. Unsurprisingly, Musk, who bought Twitter back in October last year for 44 billion USD, is not best amused by the launch Threads.
The recent digs at one another on social media have garnered significant attention. Many users have been lauding the brilliance of the new app, Threads.
One user @strikingbreakdowns went so far as to state, “Threads is brilliant. Twitter is done. Elon will be KO by Zuck too.”
Zuckerberg replied, “We’re only in the opening moments of the first round here”, hinting at an ongoing battle between the tech titans.
Additionally, Zuckerberg made a noteworthy remark when he responded to a Threads user’s inquiry about whether the platform could outperform Twitter, stating, “Twitter has had the opportunity to do this but hasn’t quite mastered it. Hopefully we will”, confirming his ambition to surpass Twitter’s success.
However, in the last 24 hours, the battle between the two men has taken a more serious turn. Musk has filed a lawsuit against Meta over allegations of stealing trade secrets and employing former Twitter employees.
Undoubtedly, this battle of the titans will continue to unfold, and only time will reveal who will emerge victorious.
