TikTok Introduces ‘Creator Next’

New Collaboration Program for Content Creators Helps With Creating, Developing And Monetising Content

Recently, TikTok announced a new program for their creators titled ‘Content Next‘, giving their users access to tool selection and a wider resource pool.

This was done with the aim to help users create their content, and will aid in supporting their creators financially, coinciding with TikTok’s statement of wanting “to offer a range of opportunities that reward the creativity and passion that goes into making TikTok the global community it is.

This launch will allow users of TikTok access to the ‘Creators Marketplace‘, whilst also allowing users the ability to donate Tips and Video Gifts. The Creator Marketplace allows brands to easily find content creators they wish to collaborate with to promote different branded content. This, in turn, allows both businesses and TikTok accounts to easily work together with those who have the same ideas and attitudes, aligning their goals.

Tips, simply put, allow TikTok users to tip others for the content they produce. TikTok has stated users will receive the full 100% value of the tip sent, with payments being processed through Stripe. Within this function, users can donate up to $100 per transaction, with a maximum of $500 tipped per day.

On the other end of the rewards programme is Video Gifts, which work in a similar fashion. TikTok creators are now able to get Diamonds through video posting and going live, but also allow TikTok to see how popular a user is. Users are then able to redeem the gifts they have been sent for money, but are not worth anything until this has occurred. However, in order to access these features, a wide range of conditions must be met. In order to gain access to the Creator Next program, TikTok users must meet the following requirements:

  1. Must be 18 or over.
  2. Meet the minimum follower requirements which can change based on location.
  3. Have 1,000 views or more on their videos within the last 30 days.
  4. Have posted at least 3 times within the past 30 days.
  5. Have an account in line with the community guidelines.

This service is also only available in the US, Italy, Spain, France and the UK, with Canada and Australia getting access within a few months. In order to receive tips and gifts, users must meet the above requirements, but must have a minimum of 100,000 followers, making this feature not too widely accessible for smaller content creators.

Although there are plans to expand this program further internationally, it will be interesting to see how this effects the business and creator relationship in promoting content on TikTok.
