The Social Short: Week 32

You Can Now Schedule Publishing For Instagram and IGTV Posts via Facebook’s Creator Studio

Good news for all social media managers! Facebook is rolling out a new scheduling option for Instagram posts within its Creator Studio app. This new option has been rolling out over the past month as announced by social media expert Matt Navarra. It should be noted, however, that marketers will still not be able to schedule stories.

Also worth noting, you will need to have an Instagram business account linked to your Creator Studio dashboard in order to start using this new capability. Once you do, the process is rather simple, simply click on ‘Create Post’ and then choose whether you want to post to ‘Instagram Feed’ or IGTV’. In the feed post option, you can upload image(s) and add in your caption. Finally, you can then set the date and time you want the post to go out.

All in all, this will, no doubt, make social media managers very happy as it makes Instagram management a lot easier.

TikTok Adds More Creative Capacity with GIF Integration

TikTok

As reported by TechCrunch, TikTok has announced a new partnership with Giphy which will enable TikTok users to add animated GIFs, including stickers, into their clips.

A spokesperson for the company told TechCrunch that they were “excited to continue enhancing [their] creative tools with this integration, as well as share some of TikTok’s most iconic memes with GIPHY keyboards everywhere!”

GIPHY has similar integrations in other social media channels such as Snapchat or Instagram, meaning that while this is not entirely original, usage is expected to increase, as will TikTok’s popularity.

Snapchat Launches New Ad Creation Process

Snapchat is hoping to attract advertisers with the launch of a simplified ad creation process. This new tool, called Instant Create, has been designed to enable brands to launch their ads in just three steps.

As explained by Snapchat:
“We’re excited to introduce Instant Create, an easy way for advertisers to create ads in three simple steps. Just select your objective (increase web visits, app installs, or app visits), enter your business website and finalize your targeting. Then you’re ready to publish! Instant Create provides advertisers with limited resources a way to quickly get started in reaching a highly engaged audience to grow their business with Snapchat.
The process is meant to be as straightforward as possible. “Just this month we started testing our new Instant Create on-boarding flow, which generates ads for businesses in three simple steps from their existing assets, be it their app or their e-commerce storefront,” said CEO Evan Spiegel.

Instant Create is now available to all advertisers within the self-service Ads Manager, being a great way for small business to get started.

Pinterest Brings Shopping Recommendations and Browsable Catalogs To Home Feed

People use Pinterest as a platform for inspiration, but also as a shopping platform. In an effort to focus more on the latter, Pinterest has announced two new features for its home feed; shopping recommendations and browsable catalogs.

As noted by Pinterest in a blogpost; “We’ve been making updates to not only make Pinterest more shoppable, but to bring you more of that picked-just-for-you feeling.”

In addition to the personalised shopping hubs, an updated shopping section is rolling out below Pins, as seen in the image above. This will make it easier to browse brand’s catalogs and will provide retailers with the opportunity to reach a wider audience. One that is looking to discover products that are personalised to them.
