‘Pinterest Predicts’ Reveals the “Trends of Tomorrow”

Popular Image Sharing Service Predicts the Hottest Trends of 2021

Pinterest – the image sharing service with over 400 million users – recently published an article outlining the “trends of tomorrow.

Pinterest prides itself as a place to “find tomorrow’s ideas,” where users can discover recipes, home ideas, style inspiration and other ideas to try. Pinterest’s newest project involved tracking percentage increases in Pinterest searches from Oct 2018–Sep 2019 to Oct 2019–Sep 2020, using the results to identify current and upcoming trends.

The result? A “not-yet-trending report” and “a window into the future” from the platform where people go to plan theirs.

The trends outlined in the article are split into the following sections:

  • Travel
  • Wellbeing
  • Food and Beverage
  • Home
  • Fashion
  • Home
  • Beauty
  • Parents
  • Celebrations
  • Finances
  • Hobbies and Interests

Here’s a snippet of what the article holds…

With limited ways to fill our days and an increased focus on wellbeing, the nighttime has become the new daytime and sleep, our most sacred activity.

Wan’t to enjoy a night out whilst maintaining your personal space? It looks like a 4-wheeled option is now the way to go.

Say goodbye to bland and boring foods – people are looking to spice up their life, culinary style.

People have brought bar-esque mood lighting to their bedrooms. If it’s where you’re spending every Friday night, you may as well make it “vibey.”

Gen Z has become increasingly bold with their fashion and makeup choices, even if the only one see them is their cat.

With more time on their hands, many have dabbled in creative new hobbies, from knife painting to sublimation (?).

There’s certainly a theme to these rising trends, that theme being lockdown living. They tend to illuminate the products, comforts, habits and routines that people have got a taste for in 2020 and will likely transfer to the post-pandemic world.
