Brands will have access to a multitude of new options for posting Instagram Reels and managing their analytics with Meta’s new Reels API service for external use.
The new API access allows platforms such as Hootsuite and Sprout Social to manage cross-platform posting as well as viewing analytics easily within one dashboard. This will mean that users can easily keep track of posts and scheduling.
In a report Meta explained:
“Beginning tomorrow, June 28th, 2022, we will begin introducing Reels to several endpoints on the Instagram Platform. We are always looking to improve our content publishing and consumption experiences, whether people use Instagram natively, or via a third-party. After consistently hearing from our developer community that Reels is a top priority, we are excited to introduce Reels to a number of the endpoints that you may already be familiar with.”
This new feature will help with content scheduling, insights, moderation, hashtag search and Reels content.
The success of reels has been unmatched for Instagram where they now taking up more than 20% of users’ time on the app. As a result of this, a lot of these API features will focus specifically on Reels content.
As well as this investment in making Reels more accessible to businesses will hopefully encourage them to invest time and effort into creating more Reel content and making it a part of their everyday posting.
Instagram says that the rollout of the new Reels API will begin with 25% of Instagram user accounts today, before becoming fully accessible by July 6th.
