Instagram Releases New Features to Celebrate its 10th Birthday

Instagram Celebrates 10th Birthday With Feature Updates, Including Stories Map

The Facebook-owned app is celebrating its 10th birthday with some exciting new features and product updates.

The main celebratory element is its Stories Map, which gives users a private look at where they’ve posted Instagram Stories from (when using a location sticker) over the past three years. These stories can be shared, downloaded, and saved to highlights.

In addition to these more fun, personal additions, Instagram is also launching shopping on IGTV this week, which sees a new shopping bag icon added to IGTV videos when shopping tags are applied by the creator. This will allow users to buy products from creators more easily across Instagram’s video features.

“Over the coming months, you’ll see some major changes from us, like tabs for Reels and shopping, and some big improvements to messaging. We’ll look to accelerate ways for creators to make a living and for small businesses to sell their products. Through all these changes, our community will remain the heart of Instagram, and we’ll stay focused on keeping people safe and building new features that fight bullying, improve equity, address fairness, and help people feel supported” – said Adam Mosseri, Head of Instagram, in a blog post.
